Rare ancestor figure from the Chokwe or Lovale people. Wooden sculpture dressed in a net like dance costume made of plant fibre. A Makishi mask made of a bark cloth covered rattan frame, remains of natural pigment paint in white, red and black. The mask have a plant fibre net neck.

Ancestor figures like this served a didactic function and were used to instruct initiates about different types of ancestral spirits and the ritual dances.
