Provenance: Johan Mathias Rondahl (1860-1932), sea captain, shipowner, trading company owner in Papua New Guinea and Plantations owner in New Britain. he came to Papua New Guinea in the 1890´s. He was a native of Sweden. Oscar Rondahl (1905-1991) his son born in Kabakaul, New Britain took over the plantations in new Britain 1927. Oscar Rondahl visited relatives in Sweden in the 1950´s and gave them some objects collected by him and his father. Rondahl Harbour on New Britain is named after Johan Mathias Rondahl.
