Embu stone ball club, Kenya

Very rare and old leather covered stone ball club, made by the Embu in Kenya and used by Embu and Kamba peoples.

British Museum bought 4 Embu stone ball clubs 1908 from Hildegarde Hinde, the wife of Sidney Langford Hinde, colonial officer in Kenya.

The club has a lovely shiny wear and age patina. Late 19th to early 20th Century. (See last photo from British Museum)
